Rookies Take The Field For First Time

Saturday May 12, 2018

Edmunds Signs: The Bills have announced that 1st round pick Tremaine Edmunds has signed his rookie deal today. Yesterday 4th rounder Taron Johnson signed. That leaves just top pick Josh Allen and 3rd rounder Harrison Phillips as unsigned.

Rookie Camp Underway: The Bills rookie minicamp got underway yesterday with all eyes on Josh Allen including the eyes of the guy he wants to be like as Jim Kelly was in attendance. Allen was starstruck about meeting Kelly and hopes he can rely on him to be a mentor to him. He showed genuine praise for what Kelly established on the field and his battles off the field. The camp had all eight draft picks, 12 undrafted free agents and 30 rookie tryout players. Sean McDermott said it was good to get the young guys in there and praised Allen's arm strength.

Brandon Update: The league has finished their investigation into the reason behind the resigning of Russ Brandon and there will be no further action. The league released a statement that said, "We are satisfied the club addressed the matter in a timely, thorough and appropriate manner. There will be no further action by the league office." He is technically allowed to pursue other jobs.

Bills Sign Four Picks: On the eve of the start of the rookie minicamp the Bills have signed their bottom four draft picks, leaving just the top four picks unsigned. The team signed both 5th round picks Wyatt Teller and Siran Neal along with sixth round pick Ray-Ray McCloud and seventh round selection Austin Proehl to four year rookie deals. In the current CBA rookies are slotted by draft position making rookie holdouts a thing of the past.

Ticket Sales: The Bills put individual game tickets on sale to the general public today and announced that season ticket sales topped 50,000 for the fourth straight year. That is the first time in team history that has happened and it comes on the heels of an average 3 percent increase in ticket prices this season. The Bills do not release exact season ticket numbers.

Free Agent Visit: The Bills continue to look at ways to help their roster as today they hosted free agent running back Kenjon Barner who played with LeSean McCoy in Philadelphia. He would add to the depth in the return game. In his three years with the Eagles he has 71 rushing attempts for 310 yards and three touchdowns. He has 19 career receptions for 120 yards. Brandon Beane is familiar with him as he was drafted by the Panthers in the 6th round of the 2013 draft.

Morgan Officially Onboard: The Bills made it official hiring Dan Morgan as the Director of Player Personnel. Brandon Beane said he was looking for a good culture fit and he knows Morgan will be one after their days together in Carolina when he played for the Panthers. He spent 7 years in Seattle where he worked his way up to Director of Pro Scouting. Front Office Page.

Bills Reportedly To Hire Morgan: The Bills appear to be on the verge of replacing Brian Gaine. The Bills former VP of Player Personnel left to take the GM job in Houston. Mike Garofolo is reporting that the team will hire Dan Morgan in a similar role according to a high ranking member of the front office. Morgan had a successful career in Carolina as a linebacker where he worked under Branond Beane. He has spent the past seven years in the Seahawks front office including the last three as the team's Director of Pro Personnel. Other reports say the Bills are expected to interview Morgan but don't say if a move is imminent.

Brandon Out: In a very surprising move Russ Brandon is out as the President of the Sabres and the Bills. Kim Pegula will take over as President of both organizations on a permanent basis while Terry Pegula will continue to run team operations for both teams. The Pegulas released a statement that they accepted his resignation and curiously did not thank him in the statement. The Buffalo News reports that there was an internal investigation into Brandon's workplace behavior and allegations of personal misconduct. Brandon was alleged to have inappropriate relationships with female employees. Brandon released a statement saying he has thought about moving on for some time now and he wanted to reach 20 years with the organization which he did.

Draft Analysis: Now that everyone has had a couple of days to digest the drafting of Josh Allen our Tony Bogyo gives his thoughts on the pick. It's time for everyone to get behind Allen and hope that Brandon Beane picked the right man because really at this point nobody knows which quarterbacks drafted will be successful and which ones will not be.
