NEWS ARCHIVES - DEC 25TH - DEC 31ST, 2017 PREVIOUS WEEK

The Drought Is Over!

Sunday December 31, 2017

Gameday Inactives: The Bills had a very short injury list this week with just three players on it. Shareece Wright was ruled out on Friday with a concussion. Deonte Thompson was the only true gametime decision and he is going to play. He suffered a shoulder injury in practice on Thursday. Ryan Groy will go after missing practice time this week with an illness. The healthy scratches are John Miller, Breon Borders, Logan Thomas, Brandon Reilly, Malachi Dupre, and Conor McDermott. That means Ricky Hatley, and Marcus Murphy make their debut with the Bills in the finale.

Gameday Weather: The game being moved to 4:25pm today will help the Bills as far as the heat goes. The gametime temperature is expected to be around 72° and dropping into the 60s which is much better than it would be if the game was played in the middle of the afternoon. The humidity will be low as it will be below 50%. The winds will be out of the NNE at 8mph.

Wright Out: Shareece Wright has been ruled out of Sunday's game with the concussion he suffered last week. He did not practice all week. The Bills injury report is very short as just two are listed as questionable. Deonte Thompson will be a gametime decision with a shoulder injury he suffered in practice on Thursday. He did not practice today. Ryan Groy is also questionable but returned to practice today after sitting out the past two days with an illness. Dion Dawkins sat out today but it wasn't injury related and LeSean McCoy got his usual Friday rest day. For Miami, they have eight players listed as questionable including Cameron Wake who is sick and three players listed as doubtful including starting offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. Injury Page.

McDermott Presser: Deonte Thompson will be questionable for the game on Sunday with the shoulder injury he suffered in practice yesterday Sean McDermott said during his morning press conference. He will be a gametime decision. He expects Kelvin Benjamin to be good to go on Sunday. The coach hopes to get over to the stadium and watch some of today's outdoor hockey game. The coach feels Tyrod Taylor has done enough but everyone can do more. They still need to earn the right to win and that will be true even if they make the playoffs. Injury Page.

Anderson Activated: The Bills have activated S Colt Anderson off of injured reserve and released Trae Elston to make room for him. Anderson went on injured reserve in early October after breaking his forearm and has been practicing for two weeks now. He brings some veteran leadership and depth to the safety position and to special teams. Front Office Page. Depth Chart.

Only Two Sit: The only players sitting out practice completely today according to the local media were Shareece Wright with a concussion and Ryan Groy with an illness. That means Kelvin Benjamin and Kyle Williams were back on the field at least on a limited basis. Deonte Thompson suffered a shoulder injury in practice and is being evaluated. The coach said after practice that he thinks E.J. Gaines should be good to go for the game on Sunday. Injury Page.

Game Preview: The Bills enter the final game of the season still alive for the playoffs for only the 2nd time since the playoff drought began. The Bills need to beat the Dolphins for the 2nd time in three weeks and get some outside help to get in. A Bills win coupled with the a Ravens loss or losses by Tennesee and the Chargers gets them in. Of course all three of those teams are at home and favored to win to make it even more difficult to accomplish the long awaited goal. Complete Preview.

Four Sit: Four players are sitting out practice today as Kyle Williams, Ryan Groy, Kelvin Benjamin, and Shareece Wright are not working out today. Groy is the only new name on the list he is out with an illness. Benjamin and Williams have been battling injuries for a while now, Williams a groin and Benjamin a torn meniscus. Wright is in concussion protocol. Charles Clay and E.J. Gaines. Clay has been resting his injured knee in practice for a while now and Gaines is working his way back from a knee injury. In other news, the Bills filled their three open spots on the practice squad by signing OT Josh James, LB Xavier Woodson-Luster, and brought back DT Marquavius Lewis. Injury Page.

Roster Moves Made: The Bills made three roster moves today as they have placed Travaris Cadet and Andre Holmes on injured reserve and released Deandre Coleman. They elevated three players from the practice squad to take their place. Now on the active roster are WR Malachi Dupre, RB Marcus Murphy, and DT Ricky Hatley. Dupre has been on the Bills practice squad most of the season. He was a 7th round pick of the Packers this year. Murphy is a former 7th round draft pick of the Saints. Hatley was signed this weekend off of the Chiefs practice squad. In injury news, Shareece Wright is in concussion protocol and E.J. Gaines is improving according to Coach McDermott. Pegula Not Happy With Benjamin Call: Terry Pegula was on WGR this morning and spoke out about the call on the Kelvin Benjamin touchdown reversal on Sunday. He said it isn't what replay was suppose to be to take all that time and look at all angles at that point it is inconclusive. He said you can find very few people that agreed with the reversal. He said he doesn't care who he upsets because he is upset and will expect a fine for speaking out. He will talk to the league about revamping the replay system that has gotten away from the league.
