Bills Get Big Win Over Miami After Bye Week

Bills Blitz: The Bills came back from the bye and finally played the game they wanted to all year long as they defeated the Dolphins for the 2nd time this year 33-17 at Ralph Wilson Stadium to stay in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Tyrod Taylor completed 11 of the 12 passes he threw including a 44 yard touchdown pass to Sammy Watkins who had a career game, catching 8 passes for 168 yards. LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams each went over 100 yards giving the Bills two 100 yard rushers and a 150 yard receiver in the same game. That has never happened in NFL history. Williams scored two touchdowns with an 11 yard run in the 2nd quarter and a 38 yarder to clinch the game in the fourth quarter. McCoy scored the first touchdown of the game on a 48 yard run. The Bills scored on Miami's first offensive play when the snap went out of the end zone for a safety and the Bills never trailed. Bills Blitz.

McCoy Hurts Shoulder: LeSean McCoy looked the healthiest he had all year before he hurt his shoulder late in the game. He said he was fine and could have returned if it was close but Adam Schefter reports he may need an MRI. Robert Darby and Sammy Watkins both got banged up but quickly returned. Injury Page.

Nice Weather For Game: It will be a beautiful day for football at Ralph Wilson Stadium today as the Bills battle the Dolphins in an important division battle. The gametime temperature will be 48° and it will be played under sunny skies with no chance at rain. The wind will be out of the WSW at 10mph. Due to a prior commitment the Blitz will not be up until late tonight or tomorrow morning there also won't be much tweeting during the game this week.

Kouandjio Out; Harvin To IR: As expected the Bills have activated Leodis McKelvin from Reserve/Non Football injury list and placed Percy Harvin on injured reserve ending his season. Ryan indicated on Monday they would activate McKelvin who has been sidelined a full calendar year with onging ankle issues. Harvin has had persistent knee and hip issues and may be in line for an injury settlement. He signed a three year deal with the team but the last two are voidable. Cyrus Kouandjio has been ruled out after suffering a knee injury. He was not on the injury report all week so it must be something new. Injury Page.

Watkins Says He'll Play: Sammy Watkins did not practice today after what is being described as a "hiccup" happened near the end of practice yesterday according to Rex Ryan. The coach and Watkins both say he will play. The question is how long can he go in the game as fatigue was a factor in practice on Thursday. He is officially listed as questionable but Watkins says he will definitely play at least some while Ryan says it may be a gametime decision. Mario Williams and Corey Graham are listed as probable and expected to play. Doug Whaley said Percy Harvin's knee flared up and they will have more news soon on him. He is likely headed for injured reserve which would open up a roster spot for Leodis McKelvin. Injury Page.

Practice Squad Move: The Bills made another practice squad move today adding WR Walter Powell and releasing OT Chris Martin. Powell was with the Bills practice squad back in October when he was signed off of it by Oakland. He has appeared in four NFL games as a punt returner. Martin wasn't needed anymore after Seantrel Henderson got healthy.

Harvin Out: There were no changes on today's practice report for the Bills. Rex Ryan all but officially ruled out Percy Harvin for this week. He had some concern about Mario Williams but even though he was limited again today he now is no longer concerned he won't be able to go. The coach will not play Sammy Watkins on Sunday if he has a chance at aggravating the ankle injury but he is hopeful he will be ready to go. Corey Graham also remains limited in practice but they are hopeful he will play on Sunday. A.J. Tarpley remains in concussion protocol and was limited again today but is doing better. Dennis Thurman said Leodis McKelvin didn't do a lot at safety so far this week but he is versatile and they think he can play there if they need him too. Injury Page.

Dolphins Game Preview: The Bills are getting healthy as they come off the bye. Rex Ryan allowed plenty of time for R&R giving the team a full week off. He is looking to change past results after the bye he was 1-5 after the week off while with the Jets. Miami is licking their wounds after running into the Patriots tornado that blew them out. They had been making significant progress since the Bills blew them out earlier this year under interim head coach Dan Campbell. Complete Preview.

Ryan Presser: Rex Ryan addressed the media before practice today, he said that Karlos Williams, Seantrel Henderson, Tyrod Taylor, and John Miller are full go in practice. Corey Graham and Sammy Watkins are limited but he hopes they will be ready to play. Watkins did some work with the first unit at the beginning of practice before going inside the fieldhouse to work with trainers like he did Monday but did come back out to work with the receivers on individual drills. Percy Harvin still isn't practicing and his status is up in the air. He is now listed with a knee injury not a hip injury. Mario Williams was a new name on the report as he was limited with a knee problem. Ryan said he's excited to have a team that is as healthy as they have been all year. This is close to the team he envisioned in training camp. Leodis McKelvin may return both kicks and punts on Sunday but he downplayed the amount he will play at safety since he doesn't have the ideal weight to play the position. The coach spoke about the defense saying that while scheme does matter, they need to execute better. Injury Page.

Practice Squad Cut: The Bills have released a player from their practice squad. RB Miguel Maysonet was signed to the unit on October 16th and has now been released leaving an open spot on that unit. That spot may be filled by the player they will be releasing this week if he's eligible. A roster move will need to be made when the team activates Leodis McKelvin this week. There was less of a need for a back on the practice squad with Karlos Williams returning to action. Front Office Page.

Taylor Ready To Return: Both Rex Ryan and Tyrod Taylor said there is a 100% chance that Taylor will be ready to play on Sunday against Miami. Karlos Williams also said he is ready to return after being sidelined with the third concussion of his football life. He was having headaches and nausea during his concussion and couldn't even drive a car for a couple of weeks. Ryan said Leodis McKelvin will be activated and he expects to return kicks. McKelvin also confirmed he was approached today about possibly playing Safety. He is enthusiastic about doing that if the team needs him to but he hasn't played the position since High School. He may be needed if Corey Graham can't go. He is expected to be limited in practice this week after re-aggravating his groin injury against the Jaguars. Ryan does think he will be ready to go for the game. He also thinks Sammy Watkins will go as well although he will be limited during practice this week also. Percy Harvin is at the facilities and he is reportedly desperate to get back to playing and contributing to the team. Kyle Williams would not say the type of knee injury he has but did say it's significant but didn't require surgery. Ryan pretty much ruled him out for the next two weeks at least but expects him to return to action to help down the stretch. Seantrel Henderson and John Miller also returned to practice today.

Several Return: According to tweets from the media at practice several players returned to workouts following the bye week. Participating in the portion of practice that was open to the media included Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins, Seantrel Henderson, John Miller, and Karlos Williams. Watkins took part in the warmups and then went into the fieldhouse to work with trainers. Taylor still had a knee brace on but seemed to be moving well according to reports. Not participating in practice were Percy Harvin, Corey Graham, and Kyle Williams. Harvin and the Bills reportedly have spoken and are looking at how to precede with his ongoing hip problems. Williams is expected to be sidelined another couple of weeks with his PCL injury. Graham appeared to aggravate his groin injury in giving up the winning touchdown against Jacksonville. Rex Ryan will have more after practice on the status of the banged up players.

Bills Get Back To Work: The Bills get back to work on Monday after Rex Ryan gave the team the entire bye week off. This move was met with some criticism as the team could have used at least a couple of practice days after losing two straight games before the bye. Ryan has not had much luck as a head coach following the bye. He has won just once in six tries after the week off. The Bills hope to get many of their walking wounded back we should have a better outlook about who is returning when Ryan speaks to the media following this morning's practice session. Seantrel Henderson tweeted over the weekend that he is going to be back at practice after missing the Jacksonville game with a concussion. It will be interesting to see if players like Karlos Williams, Tyrod Taylor, Kyle Williams, Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, and A.J. Tarpley get back on the field. The Bills had a successful bye week as the Jets, Dolphins, Steelers, and Chargers all lost.

Same Old Bills: You can imagine that Tony Bogyo is no longer optimistic about this season after the debacle in London. He let's it rip in his latest column breaking down the heartbreaking loss that makes this team look like the same old Bills. Complete Story.

Communication Issues: Rex Ryan ripped the communication issues the team was having with the headsets from the coaches to the QB. Pro Football Talk reports that a league source says the issue was that they didn't have fresh batteries in the equipment. Once they replaced the batteries everything was fine. The batteries are the responsiblity of the individual team. The team won't be responding to this anytime soon. The Bills PR staff tweeted that there will be no media availability this week since the team is on a bye.
