Bills Season Spirals Out Of Control In DC

Gameday Grades: The Bills only lost by 10 on the scoreboard but it didn't tell any of the story as the defense played pathetically and the offensive line struggled mightily as the Bills were effectively blown out ending any glimmering postseason hopes. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: The Bills looked like a team that knew there season was over, and now it definitely is as they are mathematically eliminated for the 16th straight year. The Redskins blew out a disinterested Bills team 35-25 in putting the exclamation point on the demise of another Bills season. Kirk Cousins had a 13 yard touchdown run on a third and goal scramble sandwiched between two Jordan Reed touchdown receptions to give the Redskins a 21-0 halftime lead. It was the first time the Bills gave up touchdowns on the first three possessions of a game since 1999. The Bills had a chance to crawl closer before the intermission but were stopped on four straight shots from the one yard line. They tried again to comeback in the third quarter gaining 145 yards in three straight offensive plays including two touchdowns. Mike Gillislee, playing for the injured LeSean McCoy, ran 60 yards for a score. The Bills forced their first punt and then Tyrod Taylor hit rookie Nick O'Leary for his first NFL catch gaining 37 yards after a sideline scamper. Sammy Watkins than caught a 48 yard touchdown bomb on the next play to make the score 28-17 after three quarters. The poor play of the defense made a comeback nothing more than a pipe dream however. The Redskins responded to the Bills mini run by having a 13 play, 80 yard drive that took half a quarter. Pierre Garcon's 5 yard touchdown grab over the inept Leodis McKelvin was the game clinching score. Watkins caught his 2nd touchdown pass of the game in the final minutes to make the final score not look so bad. Bills Blitz.

McCoy Injury Not Belived To Be Serious: LeSean McCoy took a hard hit just above his left knee and left the game. He did jog off to the sideines under his own power but was looked at it by the medical staff before heading to the locker room. He was quickly ruled out. Sources say it isn'st serious. John Miller went off after re-injuring his left ankle. He struggled putting weight on it. Stefan Charles got shaken up in the 4th quarter. Robert Woods injured his knee and didn't return. Randell Johnson also got hurt and didn't return. Boobie Dixon got shaken up in the 2nd quarter and walked off under his own power, he did return. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Four players were ruled out on Friday for a third straight week because of injuries leaving just three healthy scratches. Nigel Bradham, Seantrel Henderson, Charles Clay, and Ron Brooks are the injured players. Aaron Williams remains out but he's still on the short term IR list so he doesn't count. Bacarri Rambo and Karlos Williams were considered gametime decisions but both are active along with Mario Williams. The three healthy scratches are Josh Johnson, Max Valles, and Lavar Edwards. For the Redskins, DeSean Jackson is active as expected.

Nice December Day In DC: The nice December weather on the Eastern Seaboard continues as the Nation's Capital will be nice for today's game between the Bills and the Redskins. It will be a sunny day with winds light and variable. The gametime temperature will be around 45°.

4 Ruled Out: The Bills have ruled out Seantrel Henderson, Charles Clay, Ron Brooks, and Nigel Bradham with their injuries. Aaron Williams will also remain on the short term IR list. Karlos Williams has a chance at playing after he practiced again on Friday, he will likely be a gametime decision. Mario Williams was back on the practice field today and should play on Sunday. Bacarri Rambo is also expected to play as he returned to practice on Friday. He has been suffering from a knee injury. Jerome Felton, John Miller, Preston Brown, and Robert Woods are listed as probable and are expected to play. Injury Page.

Injury Update: Rex Ryan said that Mario Williams met with coaches on Wednesday night to learn the gameplan but he did sit out his second straight practice with an illness on Thursday. They are hopeful he will play. Bacarri Rambo missed practice after being limited on Wednesday. He suffered a setback with his knee injury putting his status for Sunday very much in doubt. The coach does expect to have Jerome Felton, Robert Woods, and Preston Brown in the lineup although they all remained limited in practice. Charles Clay sat once again making it less likely he'll suit up against Washington. Seantrel Henderson also sat again, he is very unlikely to play. Injury Page.

Redskins Game Preview: The Bills continue their tour through the NFC East with a battle in the Nation's Capital against the Redskins. Both teams have identical records but the Bills season is basically done while the Redskins are battling for a division title in the lowly division. The Bills are back in evaluation mode as they start looking at components for next year's roster. Complete Preview.

Henderson Battling Crohn's Desease: Seantrel Henderson is battling Crohn's according to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News. It is an inflammatory bowel disease and he has reportedly lost 20 pounds. He also was reportedly hospitalized in Philadelphia when it flared up. The Bills are considering shutting him down for the season. He is currently not practicing. He sat out today's practice along with Charles Clay and Mario Williams. They will see how Clay progresses through the week with his back injury although there was a report it's day to day and just a strain. Williams has an illness and called at 5:30am to say he wouldn't be in. Karlos Williams was back on the field but was very limited. Ron Brooks was on the field but still in concussion protocol. Nigel Bradham says he's 75% to 80% better and did practice on a limited basis. He hopes to play on Sunday. Injury Page.

Gilmore On IR: The Bills have decided to shut Stephon Gilmore down for the final three games of the season. They have placed him on injured reserve with his dislocated shoulder ending his season. ESPN's Josina Anderson reports he had surgery yesterday to repair a torn labrum. They filled his roster spot by signing DE Max Valles. He was a sixth round draft pick of the Raiders in this year's draft and was plucked from their practice squad. Front Office Page.

Practice Squad Spot Filled: The Bills filled their last opening on the practice squad by adding their second tight end to that unit in a week. Blake Annen was added to the unit yesterday. He was an undrafted free agent in 2014 originally signed by the Eagles. He also spent time with the Bears, Saints, and Packers. He appeared in five games for Chicago primarily on special teams.

Gilmore May Be Shutdown: Rex Ryan said yesterday that Stephon Gilmore may be shutdown for the remaining three games. He has a dislocated shoulder and no final decision has been made yet but he definitely won't play this week against Washington. The coach is hopeful Nigel Bradham will play on Sunday. The status of Karlos Williams and Charles Clay is unknown at this time as they are on a wait and see approach. The fact Clay didn't return isn't a good sign but there are reports the back injury isn't serious. The reason Seantrel Henderson was inactive was because his illness flared up again, they hope to have him back on the field this week. The coach also said Aaron Williams will not play this week. Injury Page.
