NEWS ARCHIVES - SEP 22ND - SEP 28TH, 2014 PREVIOUS WEEK

Bills Suffer Second Straight Loss 23-17 To Texans

Gameday Grades: The offense struggled mightily most of the game and unlike other failures this time they turned the ball over twice. The first pick was returned for a score and the 2nd one clinched the game. The defense made some plays but not enough to overcome the poor play of the offense. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: J.J. Watt put the icing on top of his dominating effort with an 80 yard interception return for a touchdown to spark the Texans to a 23-17 win over the Bills. The Bills had a 10-7 lead at that time and were looking for more when EJ Manuel's third down pass was read perfectly by Watt to swing the game. Besides the interception Watt got up close and personal with Manuel all day long hitting him nine times. Manuel struggled mightily most of the day but gave the Bills hope with an 80 yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams early in the fourth quarter to pull the Bills within three after the Texans had reeled off 20 unanswered points. Sammy Watkins also caught a touchdown pass but he dropped three passes as well. The Bills still had a chance late in the game as they were driving for a possible winning score when Manuel threw his second interception of the game at the Texans 25 with 1:14 to go to wrap up a terrible loss. Bradham, Kyle Williams Hurt: Nigel Bradham was injured after he intercepted a third quarter pass. It was a lower leg injury and he was carted to the locker room after being helped to the sidelines. He did not return. Kyle Williams injured his knee on a sack. He limped off and went to the locker room and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. Ron Brooks suffered a shoulder injury late in the game and did not return as well. Scott Chandler got banged up when he took a hit to his left knee but he returned to the game quickly as Marcell Dareus did after getting shaken up late in the first half. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Marcus Easley, Chris Williams, Marquise Goodwin, and Randell Johnson were ruled out and lead the inactive list. Keith Rivers returns to the lineup after being active for the first time since injuring his groin injury in the opener. The three healthy inactives are Cyrus Kouandjio, Bryce Brown, and Ross Cockrell. Cyril Richardson to get the start in place of Williams. Arian Foster and punter Shane Lechler are active for the Texans they were both considered gametime decisions.

Hot Day In Texas: It may be fall but the weather will be downright hot in Texas as the Bills battle the Texans in Houston. A high temprature of 89° is expected under partly cloudy skies with no rain in the forecast. The retractable roof is closed so the temperature will be a comfy 72°.

Easley To Miss 4-6 Weeks: ESPN reports that Marcus Easley will miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL. Easley had his knee bent backwards while covering a kick on special teams. Doug Marrone said he is still be evaluated by the team's physican. Coach Marrone feels Keith Rivers should be ready to return this week. Chris Williams is still being evaluated after aggravating his back injury yesterday.
