Bills Ruin Colts' Stadium Debut

Walker Hurt: Jason Peters' bargaining power may have just gone up a whole lot. Langston Walker injured his left arm around the forearm or elbow area in the 2nd quarter of tonight's game. He was helped to the sidelines then went off the field in an opposite direction of the team's locker room to get the arm x-rayed. He was holding the arm close to his body and was in obvious pain. Injury Page.

Bills Hope To Avoid Injuries: This is the "biggest" of the four preseason games as the starters will play one half and maybe into the third quarter to get used to coming back out of the lockerroom to hit the field. The main thing is to come out of the game healthy. There have been a rash of injuries this weekend in the NFL and the Bills hope to avoid being the latest victim. They are going in not totally healthy already with Trent Edwards, Matt Murphy, Roscoe Parrish, Derek Schouman, and James Hardy sidelined. Hardy didn't even make the trip back to his home state. Those five playes are listed as inactive for the game.

Bills Head To Indy: The team held a morning closed workout this morning at One Bills Drive before heading to Indianapolis for tomorow night's preseason game that will be broadcast live in HD on the NFL Network. It will also be broadcast locally on WKBW in Buffalo but the NFL will not allow a local TV outlet in Rochester. Tomorrow night's game is the most important preseason game as the starters will probably play at least a half. Neither starting quarterback will play though. Trent Edwards and Peyton Manning remain sidelined with injuries.

Edwards Out For Game: Dick Jauron has ruled Trent Edwards out for Sunday's preseason game against Indianapolis. It is also almost certain that James Hardy and Roscoe Parrish will miss the game as well. It was thought that with a few days rest Hardy's hamstring and Parrish's knee would feel good enough to practice but that hasn't happen. Edwards says he's making small progress each day but the injured thigh is not where it needs to be. Jauron said he wants to be cautious since it's still the preseason. Edwards will be missing out on valuable reps as the starters are expected to play the whole first half and possibly into the third quarter as the third preseason game is the one that the starters see the most time. J.P. Losman will get those reps against the Colts. Jauron may be forced to play the starters on offense a bit more than he likes in the final preseason game on Thursday against Detroit. The only banged up player that returned to practice today was John DiGiorgio. Injury Page.

Edwards Remains Sidelined: Trent Edwards did not practice again today as he still has swelling on his thigh contusion. He still has some discomfort and he's trying to stay off of it and he keeps icing it up trying to get the swelling down. Besides Edwards, Jon Banks, Derek Schouman, Roscoe Parrish, John DiGiorgio, and James Hardy remained sidelined during the morning workout at One Bills Drive. Donte Whitner was back after missing most of the week dealing with a personal issue. Injury Page.

Bills Sign OL: The Bills have added to their offensive line corps by signing rookie free agent Dustin Dickinson. The University of Houston product played both guard and tackle in college. He probably is being brought in to add depth to a depleted tackle corps that is without Matt Murphy and Justin Peters. Dickinson was signed by Seattle after the draft but was released before training camp. The Bills made room for him by releasing WR Jason Jones. Depth Chart.

Back To Work In Orchard Park: Training camp may be over but the work isn't. The team is back to work in Orchard Park for three morning workouts, that are closed to the public, this week before traveling to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. The team hopes to get most of their banged up players back but Jon Banks, Derek Schouman, and possibly Trent Edwards will miss the game on Sunday that opens the Colts new stadium. Injury Page.

Edwards Day To Day: Trent Edwards spoke to the media has camp broke today. He said he doesn't know yet if he'll play on Sunday. It all depends on how much swelling he has in his injured area to see how quickly he can rehab it and get back on the field. There is nothing structurally wrong with the knee area and he feels it's a day to day thing. He feels the team made a lot of progress in training camp and likes the diversity of the offense. He's excited to see where it will go when the season starts.

Jauron On Camp: Dick Jauron said today the end of camp is an interesting time. He said the facilities are great and the fans gave outstanding support throughout the camp. He thinks the camp went well but you really can't tell until you start playing the games for real. They accomplished the installation of the offense and defense and he feels everyone worked hard.

Banks Hurt: Rookie Jon Banks missed the last practice of camp with a hamstring injury. The trainers are not overly optimistic of a quick recovery. On the positive side, Marshawn Lynch worked out as he had minimal swelling from his collision with Trent Edwards. Injury Page.

Edwards Out: Trent Edwards did not participate in the final practice of training camp today. The team's website reports he was standing on the sidelines in sweatpants. No word on the seriousness of his injury yet but the quad bruise doesn't appear to be anything that will keep him sidelined too long. Injury Page.

Losman Speaks: For the first time since losing his starting job for good in November J.P. Losman spoke to the media after finishing taking the first team reps in last night's practice. He said it has been difficult keeping himself motivated but he must stay prepared for situations like last night. He doesn't want to let his teammates down even if he just goes in for a few plays this year. He said he has no ill will towards Trent Edwards saying it wasn't his fault he was benched and to be mad at him would be childish.

Edwards Has Quad Contusion: The injury suffered in practice last night by Trent Edwards is considered a deep quad bruise as his thigh collided with the knee cap of Marshawn Lynch. They treated it quickly in the locker room to keep the swelling down. How it responds today will go a long way in determining how long he'll be sidelined. He was on the field for about five minutes after the collision. Lynch finished practice but was also treated afterwards for soreness in his knee from the collision. Injury Page.

Tuesday August 19, 2008

Edwards Hurt: Trent Edwards got injured during the first play of an 11-on-11 drill during tonight's practice. He appeared to injure his right knee in a knee to knee collision. He walked off under his own power and went to the locker room for a further look. Also not practicing tonight are John DiGiorgio, James Hardy, Roscoe Parrish, and Derek Schouman. DiGiorgio is the newest injury before Edwards. He had his left calf wrapped on the sidelines. Injury Page.

Practice Time Changed: It will be a quick turnaround for the players before they break camp tomorrow. They practice tonight until 9:05 and then will be back on the field just 12 hours later. The time for tomorrow's final practice has been moved up from 11:00am to 9:30am. It was going to end at 12:30pm but now will end at 11:10am. This will allow for an earlier getaway back to Orchard Park for the next phase of the preseason workouts.

Peters Getting Ready To Report? The Bills continue to have little or no contact officially with holdout tackle Jason Peters. WGR is reporting that Derrick Dockery has been communicating with Peters through text messages. Dockery said he thinks Peters will report soon.

Parrish, Mayle, Hardy Sidelined: The Bills held an afternoon practice yesterday, sitting out last were James Hardy, Roscoe Parrish, Kennard Cox, and Scott Mayle remains out with a hamstring injury. Donte Whitner was excused again for personal reasons that were scheduled in advance. Matt Murphy and Derek Schouman also remain sidelined. Dick Jauron hopes to have Murphy when the season starts if he opts against surgery. Parrish was rested with a sore knee that isn't considered serious. Injury Page.

Monday August 18, 2008

Schouman Out Weeks: After last night's practice Dick Jauron gave an update on the injury to Derek Schouman. He said it's a knee strain and he'll be out weeks. It cold have been worse but there are no torn ligaments and the injury isn't season ending. Also sitting out last night's workout was James Hardy who's hamstring continues to give him trouble. He may miss a few days this week. Kennard Cox tweaked his ankle and did not practice. Scott Mayle remains out with a hamstring injury. Donte Whitner was excused for personal reasons that were scheduled in advance. Josh Reed returned to practice for the first time in 10 days. Patrick Estes also returned after suffering a leg injury last week. Injury Page.
