NEWS ARCHIVES - OCT 7TH - OCT 12TH, 2003 PREVIOUS WEEK

Bills Embarassed By Jets

Bobby Shaw - AP PhotoBills Blown Out: Just when you thought the Bills couldn't play any worse then they have the last three weeks, they did. The Jets got into the win column with a complete annihilation of the Bills 30-3. Buffalo is in a tailspin and may have hit rock bottom as they fell to third place in the division Complete Review.

Grades Lacking: As you would expect in this blowout, the gameday grades are not going to be kind to the Bills at any position. The offense showed total ineptness as they were kept out of the end zone for the second time in four weeks. The defense gave up their most points of the season. They were helped by special teams that allowed two long returns. Gameday Grades.

Moulds, Adams Miss Game: The injuries are beginning to mount for the Bills. As expected, Eric Moulds did not play againt the Jets. Sam Adams and his backup, Ron Edwards also missed the game. Adams has a sprained ankle and Edwards was added to the injury report late in the week with a sore shoulder. In the game, the only injury of note for the Bills was Jonas Jennings who suffered a hip flexor. Injury Report.

Gameday Weather: It will be cloudy today in the Meadowlands with a few showers and the high temperature in the mid to upper 60's. It will be a bit windy, with winds hovering around 10mph.

Defensive Line Banged Up: First it was the running backs, now the defensive line. Besides adding Aaron Schobel to the injury report yesterday with an infection, the team has now added tackle Ron Edwards to the report. He is listed as probable with a shoulder injury. Edwards needs to be ready to go since he is the backup to Sam Adams who may not play because of a sprained ankle. Injury Report.

Moulds, Adams Miss Practice: Sam Adams and Eric Moulds both were held out of practice again today. Neither have practiced all week, although Adams did do some individual drills on Wednesday. Coach Williams said today not to count either player out but since they didn't practice neither will likely go against the Jets. The Bills plan to work Moulds out on Sunday and if he can go, they will activate him. Injury Report.

Adams Still Hurting: Sam Adams did not practice yesterday and was still walking with a noticeable limp. He sprained his ankle against Cincinnati and remains questionable for Sunday's game. Aaron Schobel has been added to the injury report as probable with an infection.

Adams Should Play: The Bills hope to have Sam Adams in the lineup on Sunday against the Jets. He is questionable with a sprained ankle but did participate an individual drills yesterday. The team expects his reps to increase the rest of the week and it appears he will be ready to go on Sunday. Injury Report.

Bills Looking Ugly: In his weekly column, Tony Bogyo once again tackles the same old story. Despite the win, the Bills keep playing ugly. The Bills appear to be a very average team as Tony states in his own pessimistic way. Complete Story.

5 Bills On Hall List: Five people with ties to the Bills are on the preliminary list for nomination to the hall of fame. Darryl Talley, Kent Hull, Chris Spielman, Steve Tasker, and Ralph Wilson Jr. are among the list of 67. The list will be narrowed down to 25 finalists in November then reduced again to 15 finalists before the nominees are selected Super Bowl weekend.

Williams Presser: Gregg Williams addressed the media in his usual Wednesday press conference. He said the team is working different combinations in case Eric Moulds doesn't play. He talked about receivers like Clarence Coleman and Sam Aiken stepping up. He feels the bye week probably came at the right time for the Jets and they expect some changes in their gameplan. He feels the Bills are going to get the best Jets team they can and that they will be well prepared. On Josh Reed the coach says he has confidence in him. He says the starting of Santana Moss by the Jets will be a huge threat to the Bills because of his blazing speed.

Moulds Doubtful: The Bills have three players listed on the injury report. Eric Moulds is doubtful with his groin injury. Sam Adams is questionable with an ankle injury. They will rest both players today and see how they do. Moulds' groin strain is not as significant as they initial thought and they will take it day by day. Coach Williams said not to count him out. Sammy Morris remains out after hernia surgery but is making progress. Travis Henry is no longer on the injury report after playing last week. Injury Report.

Redskins Gametime Moved: The NFL has moved the gametime of the Bills game against the Redskins. The Oct. 19th game at Ralph Wilson Stadium will now be at 4:15pm to accomodate TV coverage.

Bills Face Tough Battle: The Bills are coming off of a win against the Bengals and now face the winless Jets. Don't expect an easy victory though. They play a division rival on the road that is coming off of a bye week. The Bills are 0-2 this year against teams that are coming off a bye. Look for the Jets to give the Bills all they can handle on Sunday. Game Preview.

McGahee Passes Physical: Willis McGahee is on the road to returning after passing a physical today. He may begin practicing as early as next week which could put him on the field sometime by the end of the month or early November. He was examined by the physican at the University of Miami today and he said he's ready to go. The Bills physicians will have the final say however.

Moulds Has MRI: Eric Moulds underwent an MRI today on his injured groin. The team should be releasing the results tomorrow when we will know if there is a chance that Moulds will play on Sunday. Injury Report.

Players Sore: Coach Williams said that Eric Moulds and Sam Adams were sore yesterday after suffering injuries in the Bengals game. It is too early to tell their status for next week but it may not look good for Moulds to play. Travis Henry came out of the game no worse for wear and he remains very sore with his rib injury.

Thunder Report: The Bills were lucky to overcome offensive woes to win thanks to the big plays by Eric Moulds and Travis Henry. Their heroics helped the Bills avoid a devestating loss. Complete Story.
