Week 4: Bills vs. Jets
at
Sunday, Oct. 3rd
1:00pm ET
The Bills are getting ready for this week's game against the Jets with a little bit of controversy surrounding the surprise release of Trent Edwards. Ryan Fitzpatrick will run the offense again and he did beat the Jets last year. The Jets are coming off a huge Monday night win over Miami to put them in a three way tie for first play in the division. The Bills are still looking for their first win of the year.

INJURY UPDATE

The Bills have a few injuries heading into this game. They will likely be without Marcus Stroud who is in a walking boot with what appears to be a high ankle sprain. Andra Davis has a shoulder injury and Jonathan Stupar hurt his foot but both have a good chance at playing. Paul Posluszny seems poised to return to action this week after missing the past two games with a sprained knee.

The Jets are a bit more banged up starting with their lockdown corner Darrelle Revis who likely will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury although he has not been ruled out as of yet. It looks like they may get LB Calvin Pace back. He has missed the first three games with a foot injury. If he does play he will likely come in during passing situations only. LB Jamaal Westerman won't play with hamstring and ankle injuries. OT Wayne Hunter also appears to be out with a shin injury. C Nick Mangold has been slowed with a shoulder injury but should play.

KEY MATCHUPS

S Donte Whitner vs. TE Dustin Keller:
The Bills historically struggle against good tight ends. Keller is one of the best. Whitner will likely be keying on him the whole game. He must try to keep him somewhat in check.

LB Paul Posluszny vs. RBs Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson:
Green started the year as the starter but Tomlinson has pretty much taken over the main back role but both will get their carries. Posluszny returns from his injury just in the nick of time to help the struggling run defense.

CB Terrence McGee vs. WR Braylon Edwards:
Despite all his off the field problems, Edwards remains a big play threat for the Jets as he proved with his long catch and run for a score last week. McGee will need to shut him down to help keep the Jets in check.

LT Demetrius Bell vs. OLB Jason Taylor:
Bell struggled last week in New England and will need to bounce back because he will have the Bills killer Taylor charging past him throughout the game.

WR Lee Evans vs. CB Antonio Cromartie:
Revis is likely still sidelined for the Jets so Cromartie will likely line up opposite Evans to try to keep him in check.

RB Marshawn Lynch vs. NT Matt Kroul:
The Bills seem to have settled on Lynch as the starter. Kroul is a young player who is in charge of bottling up the middle of the Jets 3-4 defense. If he does it successfully it could be tough going for Lynch against one of the league's better run defenses.

GAME PLAN

When The Bills Have The Ball: Look for them to attack the Jets secondary that is desperately missing Revis. To do that they will likely get C.J. Spiller more involved in the offense especially in the passing game. They will use Lynch to pound the ball as well.

When The Jets Have The Ball: They will likely try to pound the Bills on the ground with their two headed monster at running back. That should open up the passing game that heated up nicely against Miami last week.

BILLS DAILY PREDICTION

The Bills usually play the Jets tough and must be excited to be home for the first time since opening day. They also are likely gaining confidence after a good showing in a losing effort in New England last week. The Jets are the class of the AFC East in my opinion no matter how much that pains me to admit it. Mark Sanchez seems to be getting better every week. They will be too much for the less talented Bills to handle:
Jets 23, Bills 16

Season Prediction Record: (2-1)
Season Record Against The Spread: (1-2)
