Bills Restructure Deals

The Bills began restructuring contracts with re-doing 5 players contracts and closing in on three others. It looks like Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith will be returning for another season when their restructuring is completed.
The only Bills news to come out of Atlanta Super Bowl week was Bruce Smith passing out during a live interview on TNT on Friday night. The latest on his condition is he is suffering from a bit of Anemia. He plans to change his diet to get over it and should be fine.
Two former Bills were finalist for the hall of fame but neither got in. Marv Levy had his second chance as a finalist and James Lofton on his first shot did not get elected.
Coaching rumors continue to swirl. It was reported last week that linebackers coach Chuck Lester had resigned to take a job with the Jets. That report has been retracted and he is still a Bill. Rumors also persist about defensive coordinatorTed Cottrell, but at this point it looks like he will stay put also. Nobody has contacted the Bills asking permission to speak to their coaches.
One important front office man maybe gone. Director of Pro Personnell A.J.Smith may be on his way to Pittsburgh as the Director of Football Operations for the Steelers. There are five candidates for the job but he seems to be the front runner. This would be a big loss for the Bills because he always seemed to bring in the right person at the right time. The main examples of this is his recommendations on Doug Flutie, Donovan Greer, Darryl Porter, Ted Washington, Bryce Paup and Sam Gash.
The Bills began the week by introducing Ronnie Jones as the special teams coach they are also expected to name James Sexton as the running backs coach this week.
The way the Bills go in free agency depends a lot on the health of Joe Panos, if they feel he may return they may let Ruben Brown and/or Dusty Ziegler go in free agency. It is looking like Panos will be questionable at best for next season and may have to retire. Expect the Bills to put the franchise tag on Brown and make Ziegler a priority to re-sign after Jay Riemersma, who may get the transitional tag.
The Bills will be drafting 26th in April's NFL Draft. If you want to be a draft guru check out our draft links on our links page
