Bills Daily Week in Review - Jan 18th - Jan. 23rd, 2000Previous Week

Bills Brass Scouts Colleges

Not much went on this week as most of the coaching staff and John Butler are on the college all-star game circuit. Right now they are in Mobile Alabama for the Senior Bowl. Don't expect much action until after the Super Bowl but there are some highlights from the past week:

The coaching changes continues as the Bills get ready to sign Ronnie Jones as their new special teams coach. Jones has 20 years coaching experience including 9 in the NFL.
The person Jones is replacing probably won't be out of work long. Bruce DeHaven has as many as six teams interested in him. The front runner right now appears to be Green Bay. DeHaven is currently recovering from hip replacement surgery.
Other big news on the coaching front had rumors swirling that defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell was leaving to take over the head coaching job with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. It is being speculated that their first choice for the job was Marv Levy. Levy wasn't interested but recommended Cottrell. When he was reached in Alabama by The Buffalo News Cottrell said he talked to the Argos but isn't interested in going to Toronto. It looks like he will be back in Buffalo next season. It is a real shame that he isn't even getting phone calls about open jobs in the NFL but it is good news for Bills fans.
The Andre Reed saga continues. He met with owner Ralph Wilson last week and he says there is only a 10% chance that he will return to the Bills.
