NEWS ARCHIVES - JUN 9TH - JUN 15TH, 2014 PREVIOUS WEEK

Final OTA Week Done

Pegula To Bid On Bills: Adam Benigni reports for WGRZ-TV that Terry Pegula will indeed put in a bid to buy the Bills. The speculation began when Pegula closed on a deal to sell land for $1.75 Billion earlier in the week. Three sources with knowledge of the sale process confirmed to WGRZ that Pegula will put in a bid but the Sabres and Pegula would not confirm or deny. There is conflicting information on if Pegula will bid by himself or as part of a group. He certainly has the money to buy it by himself. In other ownership speculation, C. Dean Metropoulos, owner of the Pabst Brewing Co., is reportedly interested as well. He failed on a bid to buy the Jaguars in 2008 and it is unknown if he would keep the team in Western New York. He has been tied to the Los Angeles market in the past if he got a team.

OTAs Finish: The Bills wrapped up the OTAs with a practice that had to be moved inside after rain came pouring down midway through the workout. The defense was ahead of the offense throughout the entire 9 days of OTA workouts. Intensity picked up in the final day as there was more talking back and forth. Doug Marrone said they made a lot of improvement in the little things and installed a lot of the offense. The main thing is they need to retain what they learned so it won't go for naught. They accomplished what they were trying to do with the team building exercise yesterday. He is really excited about the mandatory minicamp. He said he has spoken to Marcell Dareus everyday since he's been gone and he has texted with Alan Branch and Manny Lawson. He expects all three in town next week for the three day minicamp. Looking at the volume of the offense they have installed which is pretty much everything the coach is really excited where EJ Manuel is since they have put so much on his plate. He is getting ready to take the next step. Despite the fact the offense hasn't looked smooth by all accounts the coach is real happy where it is right now.

No Practice Today: Doug Marrone decided he didn't want the players to practice four days in a row so he decided to do a team building exercise instead of taking the field today. He put the players on busses after they arrived for what they thought was practice and took them to a day of fun at an Airsoft gun and paintball range outside Buffalo for two hours of fun. They will have their last OTA practice tomorrow before next week's three day mandatory minicamp.

Dareus Applies For Program: Marcell Dareus has applied for pre-trial intervention program in Alabama that could lead to his drug charges being dropped if he is accepted to the program and successfully completes it. His attorney said it may take six months before he hears from the state. They are still undergoing toxicology tests on the synthetic marijuana he was allegedly caught with. If he is denied admittance into the program he could stand trial and face jail time.

Tuesday OTA Practice: The Bills were back on the practice field today with everyone in attendance except Alan Branch, Manny Lawson, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, Doug Legursky, and Bryan Johnson who was hurt in practice yesterday. Mike Williams, Tony Moeaki, and Anthony Dixon returned to action. Chris Hairston was back on the sidelines today after taking some first team reps yesterday.

Bills, Steelers Training Schedule: The Bills have announced the dates that they will train with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They will hold joint workouts at St. Vincent College in LaTrobe, PA on Wed. Aug. 13th from 3pm-5pm and from 5:30pm - 7:30pm on Thursday Aug. 14th. The two sides will then head to Heinz Field for a preseason game on Saturday the 16th.

Monday June 9, 2014

Goodwin, Johnson Injured: The Bills suffered two injuries in OTAs today. Marquise Goodwin injured his right knee when he got tangled up with Duke Williams. He left practice, came back and fielded one kickoff before leaving again. It doesn't appear too serious. The second injury may be of the severe nature. Undrafted free agent DE Bryan Johnson hurt his knee and left on a cart.

Week 3 Of OTAs: The players are back to work for week 3 of organized team activities. They will practice four days this week and wrap up the OTAs with their 10th and final workout on Thursday. The team will then reconvene for a mandatory three day minicamp next Tuesday. Many players were out today as Kyle Williams, Tony Moeaki, and Anthony Dixon were the newest players not in attendance. Chris Williams returned after missing the last two days of practice last week. Stefan Charles, Corbin Bryant, Damien Jacobs, and Colby Way were the only defensive tackles participating today. Marquise Goodwin got tangled up with Duke Williams and was led off the field by the trainers with an apparent right knee injury.
