Bruce Smith To College Hall

Backup RB Battle: Today we continue our look at position battles with a look at the backup running back spot. It is a three way battle to backup Willis McGahee. Free agent signee Anthony Thomas joins the fray along with holdovers Shaud Williams and Lionel Gates. Williams was the backup last year but he's better suited for the third down back role as he is more of a scat back who can catch passes out of the backfield. Gates is improving and may move ahead of Williams on the depth chart. Look for the veteran Thomas to win the backup job easily. Jauron had him in Chicago when he had two 1,000 yard seasons. He's also the type of back the new regime is looking for. He's big and runs hard. Take our new poll on our homepage and let us know what you think about this position battle. Depth Chart
