Week 15: Team Collapse In Another Blowout Loss
Team may finally have hit rock bottom.
by Steve Saslow

Here are our position by position grades:

Quarterback:

Ryan Fitzpatrick was so bad he was actually replaced in the final minutes. He turned the ball over first three times they had the ball in the second half with two interceptions and one fumble. He had 217 yards passing.
Tyler Thigpen saw some action! He completed 3 of 5 passes for 30 yards.
Grade F: They need a franchise quarterback.

Running Backs:

C.J. Spiller he played hard the whole way and finished with 103 yards on 17 carries for a six yard average. Didn't do anything in the receiving game.
Tashard Choice had one carry for seven yards in very limited playing time.
Grade B: Not Spiller's fault they lost.

Receivers:

Stevie Johnson got wide open on his touchdown just before halftime. He made a magnificent leaping one handed highlight grab to convert a third and long. Finished with a season high 8 catches for 115 yards.
T.J. Graham dropped a quick sideline pass when he had blockers in front of him. He then dropped a pass that would have given him a first down. He also couldn't haul in a pass a bit behind him in the red zone and dropped a third quarter pass. That is four drops and three catches in garbage time.
Brad Smith had three catches for 26 yards.
Scott Chandler seemed to be wide open most of the game and made some nice catches. He finished with five catches for 58 yards.
Dorin Dickerson caught a 10 yard pass in the final minute.
Lee Smith was called for a false start penalty.
Grade C: Johnson and Chandler are the only two that are worthy of playing.

Offensive Line:

Kraig Urbik once again stayed at his right guard spot.
Sam Young got his second straight start at right tackle.
Cordy Glenn was called for a false start penalty on the first offensive play of the game and two more in the second half.
David Snow got his second straight start at center.
Grade C: Gave up three sacks but opened up holes for the running game.

Defensive Line:

Mario Williams did a terrible job in containment which allowed Russell Wilson to run wild.
Marcell Dareus had two tackles.
Kyle Williams was faked out by Lynch for a big gain. He was very quiet with just one tackle.
Kyle Moore got the start once again but did little.
Mark Anderson was active but did not play.
Spencer Johnson had a sack.
Grade F: Absolutely terrible effort.

Linebackers:

Nick Barnett was beaten by the TE Zach Miller for a third down conversion on the first series of the game. He had only five tackles.
Kelvin Sheppard got a sack on the first play from scrimmage and finished with seven tackles.
Nigel Bradham had just four tackles.
Bryan Scott had three tackles.
Grade F: There were huge openings in the middle of the Bills defense.

Secondary:

Stephon Gilmore struggled getting beat a few times.
Aaron Williams returned to action after missing two months with a knee injury. He did not start but saw substantial playing time with McKelvin out and Rogers and Brooks struggling. He was beaten by Rice for one long pass play.
Justin Rogers he saw his playing time diminish because of poor play.
Ron Brooks got the start with McKelvin sidelined. He was beaten by the tight end Miller for a 2nd quarter touchdown.
Jairus Byrd quietly had five tackles.
George Wilson led the way with 10 tackles.
Da'Norris Searcy was only in on three tackles.
Grade F: Got burned time and time again by a rookie QB.

Special Teams:

Shawn Powell had four punts for a 48.5 yards average with a 43.5 yard net.
Rian Lindell hit is lone field goal attempt from 41 yards.
Justin Rogers took McKelvin's spot in the return game. He didn't return a punt but had a 28 yard kickoff return. He fumbled it but was down before the ball came out.
Brad Smith averaged over 30 yards on three returns .
Coverage Units allowed three punt returns for 20 yards total and three kickoff returns for 66 yards. A punt return for a score was called back by a penalty.
Grade C: Not the main reason for the blowout loss.

Coaching:

Chan Gailey didn't have his team ready as it was an uninspiring effort. More questionable play calling as he threw three straight times after Spiller ran for the Bills first touchdown. It resulted in a three and out. He has lost the team.
Dave Wannstedt wasn't ready for the scrambling of Russell Wilson and couldn't adjust.
Bruce DeHaven the highlight of his unit was a blocked extra point by Marcell Dareus.
Grade F: Coaches have been fired for losses like this.
