The Bills have struggled over the last three weeks but that was just a preamble for a total breakdown in all facets of the game today in the Meadowlands. The previously winless Jets just blew the doors off of the Bills in a 30-3 annihilation. The Bills have now struggled for four straight games after a super start in the opening two weeks.

The Bills showed up for the first quarter as they moved the ball to a 44 yard field goal by Rian Lindell on their opening drive of the game after a Jets' three and out. The Bills would force another Jets punt on their second possession and were driving to try and take command of the game. The turning point of this one happened on fourth and one from the Jets 34 when Travis Henry was stuffed short of a first down. It was all Jets from that point on.

The Jets would drive for scores on their next three possessions and open up a 13-3 lead at the half. Vinny Testerverde found Anthony Becht for a one yard score and Doug Brien would hit two field goals of 27 and 33 yards. The Jets were helped by another Bills bungle as Trey Teague snapped the ball to Drew Bledsoe as he called timeout and the Jets would recover as Henry could not come up with it.

That was just the beginning of the Jets domination as the Bills went three and out to start the second half, and a Brian Moorman punt was returned by Santana Moss 47 yards to the Bills 18. It took one play for Testerverde to hook up with Becht again to give the Jets an insurmountable 20-3 lead.

The Jets would hold the Bills on downs again and then they drove to a Testerverde to Moss touchdown to go up 27-3 before the third quarter was over. The Jets would add a field goal in the fourth quarter. The Bills would add two more turnovers from an inept offense that has failed to score a touchdown in two of the last four weeks.

After week 2 people were talking Super Bowl surrounding the Bills, now the Bills will be lucky to match the 8-8 record of last year. They have been listless over the last four games. Tom Donahoe and Ralph Wilson shelled out good money in the off season to field a playoff team. If they don't show improvement over last year's record then Gregg Williams will not only be out of a job, nobody around the league would want him on their staff. If the Bills continue like this, Williams may not survive the season.

In a rout like this nobody deserves a gameball, so we won't give one but we will name a player of the game anyway:

Gameballs
  • None - Nobody deserves one in a game as pathetic as this one.

  • Goats
  • The Buffalo Bills - The entire team and coaching staff are goats as they got blown out by previously winless team. They showed no life or desire in this game.

  • Player Of The Week
  • Antoine Winfield - Only because we have to name one. Winfield had a solid day in the secondary as he had seven tackles.
